The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Carthage, Missouri, reported 7,000 head selling at its feeder cattle auction, June 3, compared to 6,137 head May 20 and 10,534 head a year ago, according to USDA-Missouri Department of Agriclture Market News, Jefferson City, Missouri.

There was no sale May 27 in observance of Memorial Day, but when compared to the May 20 sale, steer and heifer calves were selling $5 to $10 lower. The yearlings were not well tested early and the undertone was lower. The demand and supply was moderate. The supply included: 100% feeder cattle with 43% steers, 48% were heifers and 9% were bulls. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 36%.
